Because nothing says “I’ve moved on” like an Original Cast Recording, Matt Smith appears to be on board for an American Psycho musical that in the works for a December 3rd open at the Alameida in London. He is indeed playing the psycho that the show is named for.
Word is out that Smith has wrapped filming (which means that regeneration scene is in the can… *tear*), and he’s beginning work on his new role as a singing—and maybe dancing?— Patrick Bateman for musical take on the Bret Easton Ellis novel. Seeing as Arthur Darvill has been starring in the musical Once on Broadway these past several months, we can only assume that the Doctor misses Rory dearly and is hoping that the production eventually crosses over into America so that the family reunion can take place.
Also, we’ve heard Matt Smith sing with his co-stars before in an adorable Doctor Who behind the scenes video and… well, we weren’t blown away, let’s say. Perhaps he was holding out on us all because unleashing such a incredible singing voice on the world would have cause a massive implosion of the Who fanbase.
